- "The Lord Jesus Christ, physician of souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health, has willed that his Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit, his work of healing and salvation, even among her own members." (The Catechism of the Catholic Church)
Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, (sometimes called "confession" or Sacrament of "Penance"), we acknowledge our failure to love (sin), and through the ministry of the priest, receive Christ’s forgiving grace. The grace of the Sacrament helps us to grow in more perfect love for God and for one another.
At Saint Mary’s, the Chapel of Reconciliation is located to the left within the main body of the church, near the baptismal font. Provision is made so that the person celebrating the sacrament may do so face-to face with the priest or may maintain complete anonymity.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered at 4pm every Saturday. It is also celebrated during seasonal penance services during Advent and Lent. The Sacrament may also be celebrated by making an appointment with the parish priest.
There is no need to worry about "what to say" or "how to confess." The priest is eager and happy to guide you through the prayers of the Sacrament.
